Madelyn is pleasant and very easy to work with as a person. She gave me a reasonable estimate for painting living room, dining room, three bedrooms, a bath, a sunporch and several ceilings in other rooms (den and kitchen). I was out of town while she did the job and felt confident in her abilities. I had left the check with my son-in-law to pay her when she was done and he paid her before she started which could have resulted in a sloppy approach to the job, but she did a fabulous job in every way.

Highland Paint Restoration did a complete exterior paint job on my 75+ year old house in Virginia Highland. The house is a clapboard bungalow that needed a lot of attention. Madelyn was the only painter, of six that I got estimates from, that truly understood what needed to be done. To prep, they pressure washed, scraped and ground down years worth of rough spots. They also re-glazed windows and patched/spackled to ensure a smooth surface. Madelyn is very knowledgeable about painting products and recommended that we prime/seal with XIM Peel/Bond, specifically made for older homes. Finally, they sprayed and hand-painted the entire house. The finished result is terrific.
As mentioned early, I spoke to a good number of painters prior to choosing Highland Paint. Although all had positive reviews on Angie's List, only Madelyn had the experience (and determination) that I felt was needed to get an older home painted correctly. She was also very understanding to work with my desire to balance 'cost versus benefit,' putting the elbow grease (and dollars) where needed but still doing a bang up job on less visible areas of the house. Bottom line, she is great to work with and her work is excellent!

Painted a large interior room which we have converted from my son's former bedroom to my home office. The room required a tremendous amount of spackling and sanding, due to my son's having taped posters, etc. to the walls during his teen years. They did a great job with all of that. Also, the ceiling had some very serious stain problems from a series of now-repaired roof leaks. The stains were very stubborn, but Madelyn stuck it out until she got rid of them. The paint job is beautiful and was done with great attention to detail. She had hoped to finish in just two days, but when my trim was just sucking up paint from going so long without new paint, she came back again this morning to add one more coat. They were prompt, professional, and cleaned up after themselves completely. It was a wonderful experience. Negotiating a price was easy and I absolutely got excellent value for my money.

I obtained 3 bids (all from Angie's List). Theirs was the most complete, although they did, initially, forget to quote the wrought iron. All bidders were within 10% of each other. The other bids were pages long, filled with disclaimers; Highland's was clear and to the point, as was the owner. The other bidders were large companies and I thought I'd get better customer service with Highland, so I gave them the job. I was right.
I am a massage therapist and work out of my home. The work crew could not have been quieter (no music!) or more considerate. They started at 9 every morning and worked a full day, often into the evening, and they didn't desert my job to start another one. I was most impressed with their attention to detail on the prep work.
The owner, Madeline, worked on the job site every day and closely supervised the quality of the work. She offered good suggestions and my house looks better than I had expected. I am confident that this paint job will last a long time.

We contacted Madelyn through a coupon that was presented by Angie's list to have 3 rooms painted for half price. While she was here painting our home she also repaired the drywall tape in 2 of our rooms as well. She was very professional, on time and tidy when she left. We have already asked for a quote for some additional work and will be using this company again in the future!!

She has high standards and was very thorough with her preparation and finish product. The project was completed well and we were all pleased with the results. Highland painters are some of the best painters we have ever hired to do work for us. They are very clean, professional and didn t hesitate to answer any questions we had. We liked their punctuality and the price was excellent. One thing that stuck out with us about them was the fact that they went out of their way to work on a Sunday when the shop we own was closed. This was very convenient for us. This goes to show you how professional they really are.
